ASSTA New Researcher Award
ASSTA offers up to six New Researcher Awards for the best papers submitted for presentation at its SST conference. The award consists of a $750 grant, plus cover of the SST conference dinner. These awards are available for students and new researchers who are no more than two years beyond the confirmation of their highest degree who are conducting research in Australia and/or New Zealand, and who have been financial members of ASSTA for at least 6 months prior to the SST conference submission deadline.

New Researcher Award guidelines
CoEDL Early Career Researcher Award
The SST2016 CoEDL Early Career Researcher Award seeks to promote outstanding new researchers in speech and language.
Eligibility criteria
1) The applicant must hold a PhD.
2) The applicant must be no more than 3 years beyond having received their PhD.
Application procedure
1) To apply, please select the “CoEDL Early Career Researcher Award” box when submitting your SST2016 paper by the due date.
2) The completed paper should follow the accompanying formatting and length guidelines which are the same as those usually provided to prospective presenters at the SST conferences.
3) Applicants may submit more than one paper. Each will be considered independently of the others as a separate entry. However, no applicant may win more than one award.
4) Applicants should be either sole or first author of the paper.
Assessment procedure
1) The papers will first be considered by the SST conference technical committee. Once accepted for presentation at the conference, the applications will be passed on to an assessment panel appointed by the SST2016 Conference Organising Committee.
2) The final decision to accept the application rests with the assessment panel.
3) All applicants will be notified of the panel’s decisions as early as possible but at the latest two weeks before the due date for early bird registration deadline.
The award
1) Up to two awards are available for the SST2016 conference. However, the assessment panel may recommend that no awards be made if it feels no applications of sufficiently high quality have been submitted.
2) The award will consist of:
a) AU$500 grant.
b) A certificate to be presented at the conference dinner.
c) Mention on the SST2016 Conference and CoEDL websites.
3) All decisions made by the assessment panel are final and no correspondence about those decisions will be entered into.
CoEDL Student Award
The SST2016 CoEDL Student Award seeks to promote outstanding research students in speech and language.

The applicant be enrolled in an Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program.
